Getting to Bagan from Yangon

Yangon, the former capital city of Myanmar, is a bustling metropolis that combines traditional Burmese with convenience of a modern city. The transportation between Yangon and Bagan is extensive. You can travel by bus, by train, by cruise, or even by flight.

 

Travelling by bus to Bagan is a popular choice and is one of the easiest ways to get there. It can cost from $13 to $23 depending on bus types. The trip can take 9-10 hours long.

 

If you are planning to travel by train, it can cost around $16 to $23. The duration can be longer than travelling by bus, approximately 17-19 hours.

If you don’t like long ride, the flight would be the best choice for you. It takes only one and a half hour to Bagan, but the tickets cost from $112-130.

 

You can choose to travel by cruise if you want to enjoy panoramic view of Myanmar’s waterways. It travels along the Ayeyarwady River and the beautiful swathes of natural beauty fringe the river’s banks.

 

Getting to Bagan from Mandalay

The best option to choose if you are travelling from Mandalay is by flight. It takes about 30 minutes, but flight ticket can be a bit expensive.

 

If you are on the budget, you can either travel by bus or by train. Travel by bus can take only five hours long. If travel by train, there are two trains that leave for Bagan every day. The slow one can take up to 10 hours while the express takes a mere hour to get to Bagan.

 

Getting to Bagan from Inle

You can either travel by airline or by bus. There are regular flights from Heho airport to Bagan, and it takes only 40 minutes to get one place from another. The next option is to hop on the bus, it takes about 8 to 10 hours journey.

 

If you arrive to Bagan, rent an electric-bike or motorcycle and enjoy thousands of temples and pagodas. Try traditional food and culture. Don’t forget to ride the hot air balloons to enjoy city from above and beautiful sunset.
